Whether you are one of those who could eat a whole can of condensed milk or one of those who don’t have a sweet tooth, the homemade condensed milk will come handy if you want to make delicious Christmas cookies, homemade liqueurs or try other sweet recipes.
Supplies
- 16,9 oz of milk
- 7,8 oz of sugar
- 1/4 tsp of baking soda
- mason jar
I recommend you not to use powder sugar. You can if you absolutely have to but the condensed milk will have a lightly dusty taste.
How to make homemade condensed milk
Be sure to use a clean pot without any burns.
Put the milk in the pot and heat it. Add sugar and stir.
When the milk starts boiling, lower the heat. It should boil but not too strongly. Stir it every now and then. The whole process is quite short, a part of the milk will have evaporated within half an hour and the mixture will become dense.
Switch off the stove and whisk in the baking soda.
Let the condensed milk cool down and keep it in a jar with a lid. You can keep it in your fridge for up to three months, that is, if you can go so long without eating it;-)
