When my youngest was born I gave myselft three presents: a drier to prevent getting crazy from all the laundry, a person to help me clean the house and regular visits to the salon where a very brave lady does the sisyphus job of trying to fight the aging process and prevent me from developing wrinkles. And because I don’t want her work to go to waste, I try to maintain my skin as she leaves it after every session. I prepared this facial butter for the winter, it is very nourishing and it protects the skin from cold.
I combine this winter facial butter after the shower with this chocolate body butter (for the rest of the body) and I also use the facial butter before going outside when the temperatures drop to 0 degrees and below.
Supplies
- 20 g of coconut oil
- 20 g shea butter
- 20 g cacao butter
- 10 g poppyseed oil
- 10 g jojoba oil
- electrical whisk
- container to store the winter facial butter
How to make the facial butter for winter
Place all the ingredients in a jar and melt everything in water bath.
Leave the mixture cool down and then place in the fridge for a while. Just when you can see it’s a little bit solid, whisk it properly until it changes color from translucent to creamy. The leave it a few more minutes in the fridge again and whisk again. When the mixture becomes semi-solid, whisk on the highest speed for at least three minutes, the butter will gain in volume. Whisk the butter at least three times in total.
Place it in a clean container.
Storing and shelf life
Store it in a cold room or in the fridge. If your bathroom’s cold, it’s fine as well and actually, a little warm doesn’t hurt but if the butter melts too much it will loose it’s fluffiness.
The shelf life of the finished product is the shelf life of the ingredient that expires first. In my experience, it will be ok for several months.
